For the Love of Valentine’s Day, Let us plan your date for you!

Valentine’s Day is just a few weeks away.  Have you made your plans yet? Here are a few local ideas to make your day special!

A Romantic Adventure

Get your heart racing with a day of outdoor activities at Terrapin Adventures (8600 Foundry St.) in Savage. Couples, and even single visitors, can take part in a special package deal offering three-hour access to the zip line, giant swing, climbing tower, and high ropes challenge course. Conquer your fear of heights, or soar to new ones, as you swing 30 to 40 feet in the air. These challenges will increase your excitement, as you also build trust and confidence with your partner. Tickets are currently going for $50 per person, or $100 per couple, but will increase after Feb. 1. Participants will also have the chance to win sweet prizes from the shops at Savage Mill.  To book your adventure, click here.

Sweets with your Sweetie

Statistics show that second to the traditional Valentine’s Day card, candy is the most popular gift given to friends and loved ones.  In fact, close to 40 million of the heart-shaped boxes of chocolate were produced for sale last year. Maybe this means that you won’t be at a loss when picking up a last minute present, but giving the gift that everyone’s getting isn’t exactly romantic. Make the annual chocolate exchange a little more special this year with a truffle-making course at the Robinson Nature Center (6692 Cedar Lane) in Columbia. Hand-roll your candies while you enjoy local wine and quality time with your partner.  Tickets are $25 per person, or $40 per couple. This event will take place the day before Valentine’s Day, on Feb. 13. To sign up, click here.

Dance the Night Away

Is there anything more romantic than the sweet sound of a saxophone blown by a Grammy-nominated artist? We think not! Take that special someone out for a night of world-class music when the Monterey Jazz Festival comes to town on Feb. 14. Whether you’re a jazz enthusiast or new to the scene, this team of players is sure to capture your attention. From the innovative styles of saxophonist Ravi Coltrane, to the distinctive, sexy sound of vocalist Raul Midón, how could you not fall in love?

This event will take place at the Jim Rouse Theatre (5640 Trumpeter Road) in Columbia. Tickets prices vary and are available here.

“Galentine’s” Day Tea Party

Here’s an event for all you single ladies [or girls who just want to have fun]! On Feb. 6, Belmont Manor (6555 Belmont Woods Road) in Elkridge is hosting a special “Galentine’s” Day tea event from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Participants can come dressed in their Victorian best and, for a fee of $30, be transported back in time. Relieve your holiday and romantic pressures while noshing on all the tea, scones, and sandwiches your heart desires. This event is for women ages 18 or older. For more information, click here.

Valentine’s Day Gala
Want to have a grand Valentine’s Day for a great cause? The Valentine’s Day Gala, sponsored by the Columbia Town Center Rotary Club, will be held at the Sheraton Columbia Town Center Hotel on February 6th from 6:30-11:30 pm. Your $100 ticket includes a delectable buffet dinner, live music, dancing, and most importantly, a silent auction to support local charities. For more information, call 410-531-9470 or register for tickets here.

Toby’s Dinner Theatre
Looking for a date that is theatrically spectacular? Now through March 20, Toby’s Dinner theater is performing South Pacific. This lush, exotic musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein tells of two love stories, both filled with the passion of wartime romance and the challenge of overcoming prejudice for love. Featuring well-known songs such as “Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair”, “Some Enchanted Evening”, and “Bali Hai,” this play is a musical masterpiece. Take your loved one or your whole family, the play is suitable for all ages!
