Wellness | What Do Certified Nurse Midwives Do?

Lisa Zelinsky

Here, at The Women’s OB/GYN Group, Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM’s) provide pregnancy and birth care for low-risk women, utilizing a holistic approach that supports the natural processes of pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum care. Our CNM’s have a Master’s degree, are certified through the American Midwifery Certification Board and are licensed by the Maryland State Board of Nursing.

Midwife means “with women” and at The Women’s OB/GYN Group, our midwives emphasize education, wellness and shared decision-making. Our midwives approach pregnancy and birth as normal physiologic processes, resulting in excellent outcomes for mothers and babies. If complications arise, our experienced team of OB/GYN physicians is available for consult and/or co-management.

Midwives also provide well-women gynecologic care, family planning and preconception counseling.
