Wine at the Shrine: A Festival for Little Portion Farm

You are invited to the first Annual Festival for Little Portion Farm. Little Portion Farm is a ministry of the Franciscan Friars Conventual focused on providing fresh food to those in need while using sustainable farming methods to restore the health of our land. The 3-acre farm will function as an “agro-ecosystem,” with a diversity of plants and habitats to support the life of this “little portion” of creation. As all of the food harvested from the farm will be donated to the Franciscan Center in Baltimore, the overarching mission of this ministry is, using the words of Pope Francis, to “hear both the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor.” This annual fundraiser will help establish and grow the future of this farm and will help the Franciscan Center serve healthy meals to their clients. The Franciscan Center is the 2nd largest community kitchen in Central Maryland where they serve on average 500 individuals and families per day lunch. The Center also offers dinners two nights and week and their social work team visited with more than 1,000 families last fiscal year.
