WHY WE CAN’T WAIT: POETRY OF HISTORY AND JUSTICE

The 2020 Lucille Clifton Reading Series provides an opportunity to deepen and extend our understanding of the experiences of others and ourselves as Joseph Ross explores through verse the life and work of Martin Luther King, Jr. in the debut of his book Raising King. Ross based his poems on King’s own writing in Stride Toward Freedom, Why We Can’t Wait, and Where do We Go from Here. Ross will read and discuss his work beginning in a virtual presentation.
