In this thought provoking film, producer/director Peter Richardson enters the lives of the terminally ill as they consider whether – and when – to gently end their lives by taking a legally prescribed overdose of medication. Richardson examines both sides of this complex, emotionally charged issue. The film offers a powerful portrait of what it means to die with dignity, and won the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival in 2011.
The 2016 Maryland General Assembly is expected to consider the End of Life Options Act that would allow aid-in-dying for terminally ill Maryland residents. The Act is based on an Oregon statute, which has been in effect for 18 years. This special event is an opportunity to learn more about the proposed bill and the issues surrounding it.
