The Columbia Pro Cantare chorus will perform George Frideric Handel’s masterpiece, Messiah, Sunday, December 8, 2019, 7:30 pm in the Jim Rouse Theatre for the Performing Arts, Columbia, MD. A pre-concert lecture will take place at 6:30 pm.
For many people, attending a performance of Messiah is an essential activity of the holiday season. Columbia Pro Cantare has thrilled audiences with its annual performance of the oratorio since 1986. Joining the Columbia Pro Cantare chorus under the direction of artistic director Frances Motyca Dawson will be the professional Festival Orchestra, organist Henry Lowe, and soprano Amy van Roekel, mezzo Leah Kaye Serr, tenor Charles Reid, and baritone Rob McGinness. The program will include all of Part I of Handel’s oratorio and selections from Parts II and III. A reception will follow the concert.
Tickets are $23, $20 (students and senior citizens) in advance; $2 more at the door. Children 5-15: $10. Discounted tickets are available for groups of 10 or more,
