Baltimore artist Alina Poroshina’s figurative paintings are testimonies of conflict, passage, and transition. Reflecting today’s refugee crisis while commemorating 100 years since the Armenian genocide of 1915, the exhibit illustrates how themes of human history are tragically repetitive. Through stories and symbolism, Poroshina’s works reflect on how atrocities committed generations ago relate to the continuing global struggle for peace and justice, the triumph of the human spirit over senseless violence, and our innate desire to prevail over adversity.
