Built of stone from the Little Patuxent River bordering Savage, Carroll Baldwin Hall is a 97-year-old Maryland Historic Trust site which still serves as a vibrant community center. Funds from each year’s race help restore and maintain this historic gem. Baldwin Hall is in the midst of some extensive renovations, including redoing the well-worn original wooden floor, so please support the work by coming for an autumn run or walk through our lovely community, and enjoying music and homemade breakfast treats afterward!
The 7K Run course begins at the historic Carroll Baldwin Hall (built 1921-1922), continues past Savage Mill and other historic sites, and then proceeds through Savage Park and surrounding neighborhoods before returning to the Hall.
The 1-Mile Historic Walk passes by buildings in the heart of Savage, introducing participants to the role Savage and its residents played in American history. Tour highlights include history related to the War of 1812, the role Savage Mill played in the shaping of the town and the nation during the Industrial Revolution, and the significance of various buildings that comprise the Savage Mill Historic District, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Festivities continue with home-baked treats made by Savage community members, music, and prizes!
