The former Rocky Run reopened as the The Ale House Columbia in December, and early reviews indicate that change is good. The refurbished space features three dining areas and three bars, a large outdoor space and plenty of flat screen TVs for sports fans. The bar – like its Baltimore sibling, the Pratt Street Alehouse – features Oliver Breweries beer, and regulars can purchase growlers, 64-ounce containers that can be refilled with their favorite drafts. Chef Juan Valdez, formerly of D.C.’s District Chophouse, helms the kitchen. Menu (lunch, dinner, happy hour and late night dining) featuring fresh local ingredients and traditional comfort food – with a twist. Build your own mac and cheese anyone?
