Funeral Options and Coronavirus

SPONSORED BY HARRY H. WITZKE FAMILY FUNERAL HOME

Funeral options have changed, and we must adapt to a new normal. Coronavirus has confined us to our homes yet we must still address what options are available when dealing with a death. Currently, funerals can still be held but only with a total of 10 people. Services at the funeral home are limited to only a few family members, the clergy, and the funeral home staff. We are limited to the same parameters at the cemetery based on the cemeteries requirements. Some funeral homes have adapted with “drive up” or “walk up” viewings where the family still gathers inside with the decedent but visitors may only see them through a window. Many families are having smaller funeral services now and waiting to hold memorial services, without the decedent present, at a later date. Another option is cremation, with or without services. Some families prefer this option with a memorial service or celebration of life being planned for a date when their family and friends can gather together without restrictions. For those family members who can not travel now, services are being live streamed to include as many people as possible. Whatever your wishes are, please contact your funeral provider of choice to help you navigate these new restrictions during a difficult time.
