PURPOSE STATEMENT
The Women’s Leadership Conference was created by the Howard County Chamber of Commerce as a platform to recognize women in every stage of her profession. Starting with a focus on business development within government contracting, the conference has since grown and expanded to now serve professional women across industries and throughout the region. The purpose of the conference is to offer opportunities for professional women of all levels the opportunity to grow and successfully advance their careers while networking with other professionals, leaders and mentors in the community. The objective of the conference is to appeal to more women within nonprofit, commercial and government sectors, attract others outside of the Howard County corridor and to be acknowledged as the one and only conference of its kind in the area.
Each year, the conference has added new attractions. From having Claire Shipman with ABC news and Coach Rayna DeBose as primary keynotes, to incorporating concurrent breakout sessions that appeal to various levels of professionals, to having unique panel discussions which focus on the development of the individual, the conference is always looking to add new opportunities for growth of its participants. Now in its sixth year, the conference committee is adding strategic components to the conference, giving participants the opportunity to walk away with tangible plans of actions. In addition, the conference is seeking to expand its offerings and intends to obtain professional certifications of its workshops and breakout sessions for individuals needing to maintain CPA, PMP, SHRM and HRCI designations.
