STILLPOINT MAKES A POINT OF GIVING BACK

Stillpoint1Once upon a time, Marla Peoples worked in the corporate world. A human resources trainer, her schedule was busy, her job was stressful, and she developed migraine headaches. “I was giving myself injections” of medication to help with the pain, she recalls. Until someone suggested acupuncture. “I was hooked.”

Peoples went on to train in acupuncture at Tai Sophia, and eventually met up with Tori Paide, owner of the Still Point Spa in Takoma Park.

One year ago in May, Peoples and Paide opened the Stillpoint location in Clarksville, offering both spa and overall wellness treatments to clients. Along with holistic skin care and therapeutic massage, the spa offers life coaching, astrology and reiki healing.

In addition, Stillpoint is committed to giving back to the community. In February, Peoples and Paide presented a check for $1,800 to the Ulman Cancer Fund, a local organization committed to awareness and support for young adults with cancer. And last December, Stillpoint hosted a holiday open house that included 10-minute mini-treatments offered free to guests.

The point of Stillpoint, says Peoples, is to educate: “We want people to be pro-active instead of reactive when it comes to their health.”  For information, stillpointmindandbody.com/clarksville.
