ORGAN DISCOVERY

Organ

The Howard County Historical Society will be holding an open house on Saturday, June 22, 1-5 p.m.

The highlight of the event will be a performance on the 110-year-old Felgemacher Pipe Organ by Ann Mellinger from Trinity United Methodist Church in Catonsville and Dean Jestes from St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oella. Usually the organ is played only at Christmas, says Karen Griffith, museum manager for the Historical Society. “But people have started to discover it,” and ask to play. “They’re taken aback by it, and when someone can play, it’s amazing.”

The open house will begin at 1, with music starting around 3, Griffith says. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served. 8328 Court Ave. (off Main Street), Ellicott City.
