Real and Imagined – Watercolor paintings by Joyce Bell
October 2, 2018 - October 28, 2018
Columbia artist Joyce Bell will share her stunning watercolors in a show titled “Real and Imagined” for Artists’ Gallery October show.
The images are mostly floral with some figurative and still life work. Bell commented, “As I was planning for this show, I thought about the images that influenced my choices over the past 25 years. I realized my garden and its beautiful flowers were always calling to me. Walking along the garden path with friends and watching all the wondrous little critters has always brought me joy, so it’s no surprise I would choose these things to enlighten my paintings. I love drawing real images but I prefer to choose my own imagined colors and surrounding elements for enhancement. I hope visitors who see these paintings feel the joy I do. “
Bell received a master’s degree from Towson University and taught art to elementary and mid-dle school students for the next 30 years throughout the Baltimore County school system. She is a signature member of the prestigious Baltimore Watercolor Society and has studied with many nationally well-known artists. Bell has received numerous awards in the Baltimore area. Presently she is a member of Artists’ gallery in Ellicott City and teaches watercolor to adults at the Columbia Art Center.
Artists’ Gallery is a member-owned gallery representing media that include oil, water-color, collage, acrylic, pastel, charcoal, ceramics, traditional photography, hand-colored photography, digital painting, stained glass, wood-cut prints, mixed media, jewelry and wooden objects.
