Beth Ditman, Principal Partner of Custom Media Options, LLC has more than 23 years experience as a leader in Sales, Marketing, Editorial, Design and New Business Development. Beth enjoys being a creative problem solver, committed to profits and new business and has developed hundreds of award-winning publications over the years. Her intellect and vision contributed greatly to many companies’ financial success.
Beth earned her Bachelor of Science Marketing Major/Mass Communications Minor from Towson University. Over the years she has served on several local committees. Beth lives in Howard County with her husband, two boys and her Goldendoodle Sadie. Beth enjoys cooking, traveling, kickboxing and watching her boys play travel soccer.
Dorothy Doub (Dotty)
Dotty Doub, Principal Partner of Custom Media Options, LLC has more than 25 years of planning and implementing comprehensive corporate marketing strategies, new business development, and creating niche publications. Her passion has been working with her customers to create publications that meet their needs and directly reach their customers. She earned her BS and MBA from the University of Baltimore. Columbia, Maryland has been her hometown since 1969. An active member in the community, Dotty enjoys her volunteer commitments with the Columbia Foundation and other organizations in Howard County. She travels widely, reads and enjoys the time she spends with her family.
Martha Thomas, editor of Her Mind magazine, has had a long and varied career as a writer and editor. She grew up in New Hampshire and came to Maryland in 2000 after living in Minneapolis and New York City. She has been a freelance writer, regularly contributing to such local publications as Urbanite, Baltimore magazine and The Washington Post. Her work has also appeared in regional and national magazines including Architectural Digest, TimeOut New York, Travel & Leisure and AARP. She became editor of the magazine in 2011, overseeing its growth to a quarterly as well as its transition from Woman to Woman to Her Mind.
Martha began her career with alternative weekly newspapers, working for The New Hampshire Times after graduating from the University of New Hampshire, and for City Pages in Minneapolis. After moving to New York, she worked for the New York Times Custom Publishing Group as founding editor of a magazine for the Four Seasons Hotels, winning the top editorial prize from Folio: magazine in the custom publishing category. She has also been editor of custom magazines for the Islands of the Bahamas and Tower Airlines, and was editor of a monthly newsletter for a UNICEF mother and infant health initiative for more than a decade.
Martha is delighted to be editor of Custom Media Options’ flagship publication, Her Mind, a position that allows her to explore Howard County and get to know its residents.
Melissa Carstensen, art director of Her Mind Magazine, began her career with a design internship at Philadelphia Magazine while attending Pennsylvania State University. After graduating in 1995, she ventured to the Baltimore-Washington, DC area and refined her skills as a designer and art director at various top area design firms and ad agencies. In 2000, Melissa launched her own graphic design firm, QueenBee Studio, which she continues to successfully operate today. Melissa has also served as an adjunct professor at American University, teaching undergraduate graphic design. Her award-winning work has been featured in Print Magazine, Graphis, The Art Directors Club, STEP Inside Design, Novum Magazine and multiple LogoLounge publications.
While Melissa currently happily resides with her husband, three kids and Great Dane in the Annapolis Area, she retains a special fondness for Howard County, a place she called home for 10 years. As the magazine’s art director since its inception in 2010, Melissa is thrilled to be part of Her Mind Magazine.
With over twenty years of sales and management experience, Jackie is a proven sales professional. After receiving a Merchandising, Apparel and Textiles degree from the University of Kentucky, she relocated to Maryland to manage a local department store. Her retail experience has translated to her advertising career and gives her a unique insight into her clients’ businesses and goals. She has lived in Harford County for 18 years with her husband. She loves to travel (especially cruises!), read a good book and follow her favorite sports teams.
Kathy has over 25 years advertising sale experience. She enjoys working with clients to assist in them achieving their marketing goals. She earned her BS in Marketing from Boston University. Kathy is an active member of the Howard County PTA, volunteering frequently at her children’s school. Loving the outdoors, she can often be found walking or bike riding with her husband and girls on one of Howard County’s many trails and parks. You will be sure to remember Kathy, with her professional and upbeat manner and by her warm and friendly smile.
With over 15 years in the advertising/Marketing field Sheana is a proven professional who gets results for her clients. She has an abundance of energy and a great positive outlook that helps with making great relationships with her clients. When Sheana is not working she enjoys hanging out with her two children and her husband.
Cindy has over 25 years of experience in advertising, marketing and sales. She enjoys working with clients to develop effective business strategies to help them achieve success! She earned her B.A. in Communications from American University. She has lived in Howard County for 19 years and when she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children.
Emiko has spent her eleven year professional career as a graphic and advertising designer. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She has extensive experience in all phases of the design cycle, from client consultation through to publication. Her level of attention to detail and critical eye are integral to creating value for our customers. Emiko lives in Montgomery County with her husband, daughter and cat. She enjoys traveling, trying new food, yoga and playing tennis.
With two decades of operational and project management experience including directories, resource guides, magazines and event publications, Bethanne Smith, project manager for Custom Media Options, has developed the knowledge and strategies needed for ensuring a top quality product. Born in Gambrills, MD and residing in Eldersburg, MD, Bethanne lives with her husband, daughter, son and menagerie of animals which includes donkeys, goats, dogs, cats and even a miniature pig. Bethanne has a BS in Business Administration from Towson University with a concentration in Marketing. Bethanne enjoys spending time with her family, horseback riding, running and volunteering with her dog, Dixie, as a certified pet therapy team.
Pam has worked as a community relations and project manager for the past thirteen years. During that time she developed many relationships in the community. She was a Board member of the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce, served on the Towsontown Spring Festival and Perry Hall Town Fair Committees to mention a few. In past careers, Pam owned Balloon Bouquets of Baltimore and worked for Public Broadcasting Service. She is a 2000 graduate of Leadership Baltimore County, received a BS from American University and completed the course work for the MSPR at AU.
Pam is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution where she served as Regent of Commodore Joshua Barney-John Eager Howard Chapter and as Maryland State Chaplain and Secretary. In addition, she was Maryland State President of the United States Daughters War of 1812. Pam loves to keep up with politics and current events. She lives in Baltimore County with her husband Stuart and two black & white Borzoi—Chauncy and Raven.
