PLANET-FRIENDLY POTABLES REIGN AT RED

JUNE/JULY 2016

Looking for a pour with subtle tannins and a hint of dark berries, with strong undertones of feminism and eco-consciousness? You’ll find it at planet-friendlyRed, an Earth-friendly wine, beer and spirits shop tucked into the Clarksville Square Shopping Center. Owned by Susan Miller and managed by wine industry veteran Michelle Stafford, Red’s success is testament to women’s entrepreneurship in what’s typically a boys’club business.

“I often hear from male colleagues, ‘Wow, you really know your beer,’ as if a woman who is knowledgeable about beer is a surprising thing,” says Michelle. “Here at Red it is the norm. The face of the alcohol industry is changing such that men and women of all (legal drinking!) ages are seeking not only what best suits their palate, but also a clean and tasteful shopping experience, and that is what we provide.”

From sustainably produced vegan, non-GMO, and/or organic potables to rare single malt Scotch, Red is committed to offering “the best buying experience possible,” Michelle adds. “Our goal is to find that wine that makes you swoon with every sip; believing in being good to the environment is a natural accompaniment to that mission.” We can all drink to that.
